Privacy Policy
How CHANLO collects, uses and protects personal information.
Who is responsible
Michael Chan trading as CHANLO is the controller of personal information collected through the CHANLO website, online store, Client Care and Private Commission enquiries. Privacy questions and rights requests should be sent to maisonchanlo@gmail.com. The legal correspondence address will be published with this Policy before online ordering opens.
Information CHANLO collects
Depending on how you interact with CHANLO, this may include your name, email address, delivery address and contact details; order, product configuration, ring-size and delivery information; payment status and transaction references supplied by Shopify or the payment provider, but not complete card details; Client Care, aftercare and Private Commission communications; device, browser, security, cookie and website-usage information; and a marketing preference where you actively subscribe.
Please do not send unnecessary special-category or highly sensitive information through an enquiry form.
How and why information is used
CHANLO uses personal information to respond to an enquiry or take steps towards a contract; review, accept, produce, deliver and support an order; provide a requested Ring Sizer and record the confirmed size; meet tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal obligations; prevent fraud, protect the website and establish or defend legal claims where there is a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights; and send marketing only where valid consent has been given.
Consent may be withdrawn at any time. CHANLO does not sell personal information.
Who receives information
Information is shared only where necessary with providers supporting the relevant purpose. These may include Shopify, payment providers, email and document services, manufacturers, the relevant Assay Office, delivery providers, professional advisers and website-security or hosting providers. Each recipient should receive only the information reasonably needed for its role.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards, CHANLO relies on the provider’s applicable lawful transfer mechanism and contractual protections.
Retention
Order, contract, payment-status, tax and material customer-support records are normally retained for six years after the relevant transaction or closure of the matter. Enquiries that do not become orders are normally retained for 12 months after the last substantive contact. Private Commission records are normally retained for six years after completion or closure. Marketing records are kept until consent is withdrawn or the record is no longer needed following periodic review.
Information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for an active complaint, dispute, legal claim or other legal obligation. When it is no longer needed, it will be deleted or anonymised securely.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of personal information, receive certain information in a portable format, and withdraw consent. CHANLO may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Send requests to maisonchanlo@gmail.com. If a concern is not resolved, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Cookies and measurement
Essential cookies support security, Bag contents, checkout and other functions you request. Non-essential analytics or advertising technologies are used only after the required information and consent controls are in place. Cookie choices can be reviewed through the Cookie Preferences control in the footer.
